About Adrian Alexander of New York

Born in 1946, Adrian Alexander of New York was originally born in Bucharest, Romania, and holds both U.S. and Italian citizenship. He emigrated from Romania to the United States in 1964 with his family after finishing high school.

Unfortunately, six months after arriving in the United States, Alexander’s father passed away. He took on the responsibility of supporting his mother and himself while also attending NYU Engineering School, graduating in 1970 with a Master’s in Electrical Engineering. Subsequently, he attended Harvard Business School (HBS), graduating with a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 1972.

Although this was a difficult period for Alexander, he excelled at NYU and HBS while caring for and supporting his mother, who had become a widow in a new country. His fortitude and resilience in the face of adversity have helped Alexander succeed throughout his life and gain the confidence to achieve significant milestones in his career.

Career

1972-1978 Investment Banking Alexander was recruited from HBS to Morgan Stanley & Co., where he worked for 3 years in investment banking; thereafter, he moved to Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb as VP of Mergers and Acquisitions.

Off to Italy

From 1978 to 1983, Alexander worked for executive search firm Egon Zehnder in Milan, Italy, recruiting executives in Italy and other countries for multinational clients. Egon Zehnder operates globally in a large number of countries.

In fact, Alexander has, on average, spent one-third of his time in Italy over the last 50 years.

Back in the U.S.

In 1978, he returned to the United States to pursue other ambitions. Over the years, he has used his ability to raise money, his operational skills, and his entrepreneurial spirit in diverse endeavors.

In 1980, Alexander acquired Minneapolis Sport, a franchise that was ailing sporting goods stores. He restructured the operation and sold it to the 50+ franchisees. Alexander garnered modest positive publicity for his success in restructuring and selling the operation.

1987-1990 Polly Peck Acquisition of Del Monte Fresh Fruit Company

In 1987, he joined Polly Peck International, Plc, as Vice President of Acquisitions. He built the U.S. presence of this $3 billion U.K.-based public company by acquiring a number of companies in the fresh fruit and vegetables sector. It culminated with the $ 875mm acquisition of Del Monte Fresh Fruit Company.

Alexander also developed and launched the implementation of the company’s Eastern European strategy.

From 1991 to 1994, Alexander served as an advisor to the founder of a regional corporate stationer, which eventually became a multinational  $2 billion office products distribution business.

1995-1996 EC/American Alexander worked as the principal of a boutique investment bank specializing in financing emerging healthcare companies. He helped secure venture capital (VC) investments in Trinity Biotech, CTSO, and others.

1996-1999 Phoenix Real Estate Fund

In 1996, Alexander founded Phoenix Real Estate Fund in New York. The Fund acquired more than 200 rent-controlled and rent-stabilized apartments (approx $20 million in net assets) in New York City. The Fund was sold at the very end of 1999.

Technology Seed Capital

In 2000, Alexander formed Technology Seed Capital, an early-stage venture capital fund, where he made a dozen technology investments over the next three years. Alexander raised the funding needed to help startups and early-stage businesses get off the ground and develop business concepts into functioning operations.

2004-2006 Limores-Online Platform for Ground Transportation

NYC’s

Alexander became a partner of Limores.net, a worldwide online platform for ground transportation. Limoges was the first of its kind before Uber and Lyft came onto the scene. Uber wasn’t founded until 2009, and Lyft was founded in 2012. Limores ran out of money and was sold in 2006.

2006-2014 AMI, Llc Alexander took over an ailing imaging center in Astoria, New York, and after turning it around, sold it in 2014. 

2010-2021 Health Settlement, LLC 

Alexander formed this lender for personal injury cases. He worked with local lawyers and doctors for the first 4 years. In 2014, he became a co-lender with  U.S. Claims, Blackstone’s premier personal injury company.

On the Personal Side

Adrian Alexander is proud to be celebrating his 29th wedding anniversary with his wife Susi in July 2025. His son recently celebrated his 25th birthday and his daughter’s 21st.

In addition to finance, Alexander enjoys playing chess and poker. Both games are complex, offer intellectual challenges, require skill, and are entertaining. Alexander has the traits required to win both games—concentration, patience, strategic thinking and planning, anticipation of moves, and adaptation to the opponent.
